Embracing Diversity with Video

Diversity and inclusion are no longer just buzzwords used to tick boxes. They are topics that candidates are serious about, and they will judge you based on it.  Mostly Millennials and Gen-X who make up two-thirds of today’s workforce. 90% of them claim that a company’s commitment to diversity affects their decision when considering a role. It’s a huge topic to cover, but there are ways that video can help improve your efforts!

Why it should matter to you

LinkedIn reports that employers who posted about diversity saw 26% more applications from women than employers who posted less. It also found that posts on LinkedIn about diversity received almost double the engagement. Other findings include:

  • 76% of employees and job seekers said diversity was important when considering job offers.
  • 60% of employees want to hear business leaders speak up on diversity issues.
  • 80% of respondents said they want to work for a company that values DEI issues.

Video exposes conscious and unconscious bias

Our video interviewing software, Vision, is built with analytics that show how many times video interviews have, or haven’t, been watched by a Hiring Manager. A telltale sign of discrimination would be if someone’s video had not been viewed, or only briefly viewed before a decision was made. All of these stats are found in your Talent Dashboard, meaning your clients can notice trends and improve hiring decisions to ensure everyone is getting a fair shot.

It can help with potential barriers

For example, people with learning difficulties can face huge obstacles when applying for jobs - with writing CVs and cover letters a big challenge. It’s estimated that over one in 10 people have dyslexia, making it one of the most common learning difficulties in the UK workforce. Video is an excellent addition to support this, not only for candidates but recruiters too. Our video sales messaging tool Capture is an excellent asset for recruiters with dyslexia, meaning they can reach out to candidates and clients faster and easier.
