Hello, I’m here to tell you why you should be creating video content… wait, what was that? You know it’s me, Jenny from the Blog? And I’m obviously not trying to pitch Odro’s brand spanking new feature, Producer™, to you. Honestly, I’m shocked you’d ever think I’d do such a thing!
I’m here to give a marketer’s perspective on exactly why you should be using video. And no, it’s not just because it’s fun, or because we happen to be the proud makers of the recruitment industry’s leading interview and engagement platform. (Although those are both very good reasons). It’s because there’s data to back it up!
Stat bombs from the Wyzowl State of Marketing Survey 2020 coming at cha…
88% of marketers reported that video gives them a positive ROI. And you know how much we love to talk about ROI. We built a whole department around it – shout out to Odro’s Customer Success Team! ROI is simple economics, you pay out then how quickly are you seeing results from that money? It’s without a doubt the best way to measure your success. It’s not always just about spending the least amount of money, it’s about what’s going to bring the most money back in. And video is proved to do just that.
Viewers retain 95% of a video message but only 10% of a text-based message. Bring 👏🏼 that 👏🏼 money 👏🏼 back 👏🏼 in 👏🏼. Yes, it’s good to mix up the content on your social media for algorithmic reasons but if you’ve got something really important to say, say it in a video. You can be more creative, your personality comes across better and viewers will take in almost all of what you’re saying! You want your audience to remember you, whether it’s prospects or existing customers, there’s no point in having cool, exciting things to talk about if you’re not getting any engagement. That’s like talking about your new flying car to a brick wall and expecting it to buy.
85% of businesses use video as a marketing tool. Basically what I’m trying to say with this one is that everyone else is doing it so if you’re not then you’re behind the curve . And unless it’s because you’re on to the next big thing where your adverts and communications are just projected into our eyes by magic like a Black Mirror episode then I think it might just be because you’re scared, too busy or didn’t think it was that big a deal? And that’s fine, it’s okay to be wrong and miss trends. I for one didn’t pick up on the whole filling in your eyebrow trend for a few years, resulting in some very questionable pictures from Malia 2011. But that’s okay because now I know it’s essential business and you’ll never see them anything but fleek. When you get out there and produce video content, no-one will be thinking you’re too late to the game for it to be exciting or interesting, they’ll just be thinking – wow, great content. Just as they are surely thinking ‘fabulous eyebrows’ when they see me.
To conclude, if you want to improve the reach and engagement of your comms. And if you want to dramatically increase the chances of achieving ROI, use video. Use it for business development and use it for marketing. It wasn’t too late for my eyebrows, and it’s not too late for you.
