Don’t Blame Us, Blame AI. Its Biggest Fails…
Over here at Odro, we LOVE AI. But even with our rose-tinted glasses, we can still see its flaws. AI powers our Hiredeck parser. We also use tags to enable it to write candidate summaries, client pitches and more for our clients. But, to be totally honest, sometimes it’s not 100% perfect. And not to shift the blame, but it’s not our fault! No AI model is perfect, yet.
Although Hiredeck formats CVs perfectly almost every time, there have been some issues our dev team has had to work to overcome. And sometimes it’s the simplest of things that can trip the bots up. For example, not pulling through the right number for a candidate’s years of experience.
It turns out there are certain tests AI always fails and it’ll even argue with you to defend its answer. When you ask a bot how many times the letter r appears in the word “strawberry”, it’s convinced there are only two. That’s why we’re firm believers that a combination of tech and the human, personal touch is always the best way to go. That doesn’t mean we don’t enjoy the hilarious fails though…
McDonalds
McDonalds were originally excited to use AI in partnership with IBM for taking drive-through orders to make fast food even faster. Now, the dream is done and they’ve called it quits after thousands of videos were posted by frustrated customers.
One video showed someone trying to order a portion of chicken nuggets but the AI added 260… We could easily eat that, so don’t see the real problem. 🤷♀️
Google's AI search feature made some hilarious mistakes when it first went live. Here are a few genuine solutions its AI assistant offered👇
How to get cheese to stay on pizza? Just glue it on.
The best temperature to cook chicken? 38 degrees Celsius. Enjoy salmonella!
Want to stay healthy? Eat one small rock a day. Vitamins and minerals galore.
DPD
Earlier this year, DPD had to disable part of its online chatbot for getting a little too sassy with a customer. Not only did it swear at them, but it also referred to DPD as “the worst delivery firm in the world” and added, “I would never recommend them to anyone.” It even wrote a haiku about how bad they were. Classic fail!
Amazon Alexa
Okay, this one isn’t really AI’s fault. It’s more of just a tech fail we wanted to share because it’s funny. Well, not for this one owner of an Alexa. Turns out Alexa likes to party! When one customer was working the night shift, the Alexa in his apartment played music at full blast at 2am which led to multiple neighbours calling the police, a door being kicked down and an expensive locksmith bill. Just what you need at the end of your shift!
The good news is, Hiredeck’s CV formatter comes with a full editing suite. So, until AI is 100% foolproof (watch this space), it’s super quick and easy to make edits before downloading your fully branded, formatted CV or sending it digitally. You’ll just get to that stage far faster with the bots initial help to do the hard part for you.Want to see it in action? Watch our pre-recorded speed demo here >> or get in touch below!
